PM Nawaz inaugurates Laptop Scheme in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has formally launched the Laptop Scheme under Prime Minister's Youth Programme in Islamabad on Friday, Geo News reported.

The first ever national level scheme will be supervised by Maryam Nawaz Sharif who is also serving as the Chairperson Prime Minister's Youth Programme.

In the beginning of the ceremony, Punjab police presented a guard of honour to all the students who had gathered inside the auditorium to receive their laptops. As per the scheme, around 100,000 laptops will be distributed amongst high achieving students each year.

Addressing from the occasion, the Prime Minister said that all political parties should act maturely and let the government work in peace during his tenure. He addressed the opposition and asked them not to pull his leg while he is trying to create a better Pakistan and advised them to wait for their mandate, as the public has provided Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) with their mandate in last year’s election.

He lashed out at the opposition parties for staging sit-in and protests to disrupt the system. He said that his government wants to build a peaceful Pakistan.

PM Nawaz said that his government had been working on the promises made during the election from the very first day and had not deviated from the mission despite criticism.

He said that we had campaigned for the youth before the elections and have introduced several schemes for them such as loan disbursement, fee reimbursement and laptop allocation.

Furthermore, he said that he trusted the youth who have skills, education and passion but they don’t have enough resources and funds to support their education, but now the government has given them the opportunity to prove themselves and take the country forward.

PM Nawaz also told that the scheme has a quota for students with disabilities as well.
With reference to his government’s fee reimbursement scheme, Nawaz said around 40,000 students have been given money, however, more students will be added to the plan.
