Pakistan likely to ban illegal weapons

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that the government was working on a plan to bring legislation on banning illegal weapons across Pakistan.

Addressing a large gathering at the launch of the PM's Laptop Scheme under the PM's Youth Programme here at the Convention Centre, the prime minister said that the government faced problems in passage of this new legislation on possession of illegal weapons as the Pakistan Muslim League-N lacked majority in the Senate.

He hoped that the opposition parties too will realise the importance of such measures to overcome incidents of dacoity, extortion and kidnapping for ransom. He also said that the government had launched a military operation to eliminate terrorism from the Pakistan.
