ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif set an example by seeking resignation of Punjab Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Rana Sanaullah.
On Friday, Sanaullah immediately resigned as the provincial minister after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif summoned his resignation over the Model Town tragedy in which 12 people lost their lives outside the head office of the Minhajul Quran Trust and the residence of Tahirul Qadri, who heads the Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
Talking to a private news channel, federal information minister expressed sorrow over the Model Town incident and said that the Judicial Commission would complete the report about the Lahore incident. He said that many unwanted incidents had happened during the previous governments' tenure but no one dared to ask for resignation from their ministers.
The minister said that former president Pervez Musharraf had done many wrong things in his 12 years but nobody asked for his resignation. Similarly, nobody demanded resignation regarding Dera Ismail Khan jail incident, he noted. He said that if Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Shafqat Mehmood had any reservation, he might knock the door of the court and argued his case.
Rashid said that Tahirul Qadri had used provocative language in his speeches, press conferences and tweets but PTI did not mention it. He further stressed if anybody had any objection over setting up of the judicial commission, he could approach the Supreme Court. “We should give our children the lesson of good governance, democracy and development,” he said.
