Holding rallies ‘a democratic right’: Altaf Hussain
LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain Sunday termed ‘arrests of leaders and workers Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and raids on their offices’ as state oppression.
In a statement issued here, Altaf Hussain said holding rallies or welcome receptions for leader are a legal, constitutional and democratic right of every political party.
“Depriving any party of this right and muzzling its voice through use of force is not just undemocratic but downright dictatorial,” the MQM Chief said, adding ‘this atrocity must come to an end forthwith’.
He also called upon the concerned authorities to release the leaders and workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
