NA unanimously pays tribute to Benazir Bhutto

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution, paying tributes to former prime minister Benazir Bhutto for offering meritorious services to the country.
The resolution was moved by Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain. The House paid homage to the former prime minister on her 61st birthday observed on Saturday.
“The House recognises this day as the birthday of prime minister Benazir Bhutto, and on this day, pays homage to her indomitable courage and will to fight against extremism and tyranny. While upholding the ideals and values of democracy, moderation and tolerance, recalls her words, ‘The forces of moderation and democracy must and will prevail against extremism and dictatorship. I will not be intimated’, [the House] salutes her single-minded determination to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and pays tribute to her incomparable services for a democratic Pakistan for which she ultimately lay down her life.”
In another resolution adopted unanimously, the Lower House strongly condemned the murder of MQM’s MNA Ms Tahira Asif in Lahore last day and urged Punjab government to arrest and punish the culprits as soon as possible.
The resolution was moved by Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir Hussain.
“This House strongly condemns unanimously the dastardly fatal attack with fire arms on prominent, active and energetic lady parliamentarian Tahira Asif belonging to Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) on June 18 in broad day light whereby she expired on June 20 during her medical treatment in Lahore.” “This House demands that culprits involved in this heinous crime may be arrested forthwith by the Police of Punjab and be punished.”
