Govt hints at slapping travel ban on Qadri
* Minister says like Pervez Musharraf, Qadri has come to Pakistan of his own free will but his departure abroad will be decided according to law which will take its due course

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Tuesday hinted at slapping foreign travel ban on Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.
“Like former dictator Pervez Musahrraf, Dr Tahirul Qadri has come to Pakistan on his own free will, but his departure abroad will be decided according to the law, which will take its due course,” Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid told media during his visit to the DHQ Hospital in Rawalpindi to inquire about the health of police officials injured in a clash with the PAT workers on Monday.
The minister said the new form of terrorism ‘imported’ by Tahirul Qadri from abroad will be dealt with joint efforts. “The police personnel were there to provide protection to the passengers and their families and even that of PAT chief but his goons broke their limbs and bones and targeted their sensitive body parts,” he said. Those who fight the terrorists and sacrifice their lives to ensure our safety were brutally tortured by frenzied PAT workers with big sticks, he said. “I condemn this new form of terrorism and the entire Pakistani nation, including civil society, parliamentarians and media stand by the brave soldiers.”
Pervaiz Rashid said attempts were being made to divert focus of the armed forces from North Waziristan operation where they were playing great role in elimination of terrorism. Some elements were staging dramas at airports in their efforts to divert attention from internally displaced persons (IDPs), who are guests of the entire nation, he added.
The minister said the government on one hand would deal with the elements trying to destabilise Pakistan at this critical juncture and on the other hand it would welcome IDPs with open arms. He said 180 million people of Pakistan could easily accommodate a few hundreds of thousands countrymen from North Waziristan, who had left their homes for a better and peaceful future of the country. He appealed to all to donate at least one water cooler each for the IDPs as the holy month of Ramazan was around.
Pervaiz Rashid said North Waziristan operation was going on successfully and hundred per cent results had been achieved so far. The armed forces were fighting the terrorists in a very difficult terrain in very hot weather conditions and the entire nation was standing by the brave soldiers, he added.
