SC orders arrest, extradition of AGP murder suspect

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday directed the federal police chief to ensure the arrest of accused Roohullah in the case of murder of former attorney general Sardar Muhammad Khan, and arrange his extradition from Afghanistan.
A three-member bench of the top court headed by Chief Justice Tassudaq Hussain Jillani and whose other members were Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Mushir Alam, while hearing the suo motu notice of the former AG’s murder, directed the police to arrest the accused and confiscate his movable and immoveable properties.
Islamabad Inspector General Police (IGP) Aftab Cheema informed the top court that many attempts were made to arrest the accused, but they proved futile, and police has information that he has escaped to Afghanistan.
The IGP requested more time from the court to arrest Roohullah. The court ordered directed his early extradition from Afghanistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) additional attorney general informed the apex court that the provincial government has taken strict action against the accused and a process of confiscation of his properties is underway in the supervision of KP government.
