Imran doing ‘politics of instability’: govt
* Perviaz Rashid says Imran Khan’s demands are with election commission; government has nothing to do with them

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Friday said Imran Khan was doing the ‘politics of disruption and instability’ and that he did not accept supremacy of judiciary and parliament.Talking to private television channels, the minister said the allegations of Imran Khan carried no weight. “When Nawaz Sharif made his speech on May 11, the result of almost 20 constituencies had been announced and the candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz were winning. It had become clear that the PML-N was winning,” he said, and added that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was celebrating its victory in Sindh and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the evening of that day.
The minister said the election results were accepted by everybody. “If rigging was committed then why PTI formed the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” he asked.
He said although it was not mandatory but PTI chief Imran Khan was consulted on the appointment of chief election commissioner. On May 11, Imran Khan was very much satisfied with judiciary, caretaker governments and the returning officers, he said. Pervaiz Rashid said the demands of Imran Khan had nothing to do with the government. His demands are with the election commission and chief election commissioner, he added. “Imran Khan has threatened the election commission and the judiciary of long march.” It is time to mobilise the masses to rescue internally displaced persons and stand by the soldiers rather than doing politics, he added.
The minister said Imran Khan had wasted millions of rupees on his ‘useless’ public rallies. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has voluntarily reduced PM House’s expenditures by 40 per cent while Imran Khan has spent whopping Rs 377 million on his public meetings in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Sialkot and Bahawalpur,” he said. The amount wasted on public rallies would have been sufficient to feed the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan for seven days, he added.
The minister said the Punjab government had spent millions of rupees on provision of security to the PTI rallies. From this amount, two new hospitals and over a dozen schools could have been built in North Waziristan, he said. Velvet chairs were hired for public meetings and rental of Rs 2,000 paid for each chair was sufficient to meet the daily needs of a displaced family of North Waziristan, he added.
