Army couldn't launch NWA op due to Gen Kayani’s vacillations: Abbas
ISLAMABAD: Former DG Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj Gen (retd) Athar Abbas said the decision to launch a full scale operation against terrorists in North Waziristan had been taken by the military leadership three years ago.
“However, the operation could not be initiated due to the indecisiveness of Gen (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani,” Athar Abbas maintained.
He said the military leadership had reached the decision in 2010 to go ahead with the offensive launch in North Waziristan.
The former DG ISPR further said that preparations were made for one full year but due to vacillations the decision could not be implemented.
