AIOU takes new initiatives to promote its educational worth

ISLAMABAD - Vice-Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Prof. Dr. Ali Asghar Chishti said the university will take some new initiatives to promote its educational worth and soft image.
He hoped that the administration will enjoy support of employees' representative bodies to achieve the cherished goal. He assured that the administration will address the `hardship cases' of the employees on priority basis, particularly those relating to ex-cadre posts like research assistants and IET workers, said a news release issued here on Monday.
He held out the assurance while inaugurating the office of the Employees Welfare Association (EWA). Such cases will be placed before the executive council for promotion to the next grades. The demands, he added will be fulfilled through administration actions and necessary changes in the statue book and while doing so, the promotion of ex-cadre employees including PRO to their next grades will also be considered.
The ceremony was also addressed by the Registrar, Prof. Dr. Nowshad Khan, Prof. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Kamran, EWA President, Mulazim Hussain Qureshi and Secretary General, Muhammad Amjad Hashmi. Dr. Nowshad assured that the necessary amendments in the statue will also brought before the executive council for their approval so that administrative hurdles in promotion cases could be removed as soon as possible.
The administration, he added has already sent a case to the higher authorities for convening the selection board for promotion in senior grades. He further assured that there will be no discrimination in taking administrative actions. The word `discrimination' does not exist in their dictionary, he remarked.
The vice chancellor in his address advised the employees to help them in their efforts to promote soft image of the university and providing best educational services to the students. He said that they have already taken important steps towards resolution of the genuine demands of the employees.
Ajmad Hashmi while highlighting their demands and injustices done in the past, he hoped that the administration will provide necessary relief to the employees on priority basis. The President EWA assured that employees will stand by the administration in development of the university and ensuring quality education at all levels. They thanked administration in establishing Association's office and promoting employees' friendly environment at the campus.
