Zardari terms Imran’s statement 'commendable'
INPKARACHI - Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari has said that the statement of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan regarding re-elections of local government in Khyber Pakhunkhwa was commendable.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Zardari said that recent local government polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were suspicious as majority of the political parties had shown reservations by alleging irregularities in the election besides suggesting for re-election.
While hailing the statement of the PTI chief, the PPP leader said all these doubts could be removed by conducting re-elections across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He stressed strengthening the institutions to nourish democracy in the state. Zardari also urged the political leadership to put aside their individual interests and work for stabilising democracy.
