NewsImran lashes out at govt for excessive taxes in budget
ISLAMABAD: Criticising the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government’s federal budget for 2015-16, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said that excessive taxes are imposed on the masses.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said poor get poorer in N-League’s budgets, adding that a specific class was being benefited through Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO).
Khan went on to say that the masses have been overburdened with additional General Sales Tax (GST). People having large properties will have to pay property tax if they are unable to pay income tax, he added.
The PTI chief, on the occasion, emphasised on reforms in Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) besides demanding an additional 15 per cent increment in salaries of government employees.
Imran Khan further said that deliverance of farmers’ rights was most important.
On the other hand, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has termed yesterday's budget as 'poor-friendly'.
In a post budget press conference, Dar said prices of electricity, milk, ghee and wheat were not increased in the budget. He also said that the government has not withdrawn subsidy on wheat for Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
