KP opposition alliance announces strike against ‘poll rigging’
PESHAWAR: Opposition alliance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced to observe a protest strike in the province from June 10 against alleged rigging in provincial local government election.
An alliance of Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and Jamaiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) held a meeting on Saturday to chalk out policy over the alleged irregularities in the recently concluded elections.
Speaking to media representatives after the meeting, ANP's Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the protest would continue till the ouster of the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
“We will contact other parties also, who are not part of the alliance,” he said, adding that the alliance was agreed that rigging took place in the election.
“KP government should resign as [PTI Chairman] Imran Khan himself accepts the rigging,” he said.
Responding to the announcement, Imran Khan said the opposition parties were running away and willing to protest despite his offer for re-election.
