MQM unveils Rs668 bn shadow budget for Sindh
KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has come up with a shadow budget for Sindh with a total outlay of R668 billion, one week ahead of Sindh government’s announcement of budget for fiscal year 2015-16.
MQM’s parliamentary leader Syed Sardar Ahmed, opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan and other assembly of the party announced the shadow budget.
Talking to media persons, Syed Sardar Ahmed said the MQM has put forth budget recommendations to the Sindh government in the form a shadow budget.
It proposes to reduce non-developmental expenditures and to divert resources towards bringing improvement in education and health sectors besides law and order, he explained.
He said Sindh is going to receive Rs480 billion from the Federation under various heads.
Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly, Khawaja Izharul Hasan alleged that the government budget is all about a jugglery of digits and statistics. “Even in the outgoing financial year, the allocations made for inductions went to ghost and phony employees,” he added.
He said the MQM’s shadow budget has also forwarded recommendations to improve law and order, and to draw out a policy for health insurance of all the provincial government employees.
