Rs 8,299 million earmarked for 119 projects of Interior Ministry

ISLAMABAD: The Federal government has earmarked Rs 8299.524 million for 119 projects of Ministry of Interior for the next fiscal year (2015-16) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

According to a budgetary document released here Friday, the amount would fund 34 new and 85 outgoing projects of the ministry.

A total of Rs 937.450 million has been reserved for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) schemes including Rs 278.708 million for the new schemes.

The major projects of ICT include development of roads/streets at Kirpa and adjoining areas, development of works at Jhangi Sayedan and adjoining `abadies’, street pavement in village Alipur, Punjgran, Patral, Frash and Neelam Colony and for these Rs 45.168 million, Rs 48.766 million and Rs. 48.500 million respectively have been allocated.

Similarly, for up-gradation of existing IT infrastructure of ICT Police and widening/improvement of Main Chirah and Patiari-Mawa Road of ICT, Rs 34.696 million and Rs. 36.587 million respectively have been reserved.

Rs 3032.01 million have been allocated for 55 other development projects relating to the Interior Ministry including machine-readable passport/visas project (Rs 800 million), raising of Balochistan Constabulary (Rs 40 million), establishment of national forensic science agency and Islamabad laboratory (Rs 100 million), Safe City project (Rs 100 million), provision of security infrastructure in Malakand, Swat and other conflict areas of KPK (Rs 200 million) and Rs 300.542 million have been earmarked for construction of accommodation for Abdullah Shah Ghazi Ranger at Karachi.

Rs 4,330 million have been earmarked for six new schemes that include raising of 22 additional wings of CAFs (Rs 2,500), the construction of accommodation, training, administration block and barracks for the establishment of rapid response force in ICT police (Rs 500 million) and machine readable passports (Rs 300 million).
