Machine readable passport service launched for Pakistanis in Manchester

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London Syed Ibne Abbas has inaugurated the machine readable passport (MRP) service in the country’s Consulate General in Manchester.
This launch of MRP service will facilitate above 300,000 British Pakistanis living in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Scotland, who have long been demanding the facility, said a message received here from the United Kingdom on Saturday. Addressing the ceremony comprising mayors, councillors, community members and media persons, the High Commissioner reiterated his commitment to proving the best possible service of the Pakistani diaspora in line with the instructions of the prime minister.
He acknowledged the meaningful intervention of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who took personal interest in providing this facility.
Members of the Pakistani community thanked the High Commissioner for his efforts in providing the MRP service and improving overall standard of the consular services for them.
The High Commissioner appreciated the Consul General and his team for their efforts in improving the consular services in Manchester.
Meanwhile, the High Commissioner also attended a reception for Sir Gerald Kaufman MP, organised by his constituents to celebrate his victory in the recent general elections.
Sir Gerald Kaufman is the current Father of the House and a great friend of Pakistan.
Later, the High Commissioner attended a dinner organised by the charity “Sight for Life”.
