LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said that the death of two brothers due to firing of police officials in Rawalpindi was very tragic.
Addressing a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Law and Order through video link at Civil Secretariat, he said there was no justification for direct firing for not stopping at a police picket, and the killing of two brothers by police was an extremely brutal and inhuman act. He said police officials had shown an extremely unprofessional attitude.
Shahbaz Sharif said though he could not bring the two innocent brothers back, but justice would be provided to the aggrieved family. The chief minister said a home had been destroyed in Rawalpindi due to police firing and who would answer to the mother and sisters of the deceased brothers. He asked senior police officials as to who was responsible for the training of police personnel in such a situation.
The provincial chief minister said that RPO and DPO Rawalpindi had not worked properly for the training of police, adding that such incidents are intolerable. He expressed his extreme displeasure over the unprofessional attitude of police officials and cabinet committee on law and order regarding the tragic incident in Rawalpindi, and reprimanded the authorities concerned.
Shahbaz said that Cabinet Committee on Law and Order should “pay attention” to the basic training of police, and a comprehensive plan be made to check such incidents in future. A report was presented to the chief minister regarding the death of two brothers due to police firing.
