PIA crew detained in UK, set free after interrogation
INP
LONDON – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) inbound from London Heathrow to Karachi was delayed for two hours after UK Border Agency (UKBA) officials briefly detained the flight crew for interrogation.
According to sources, 7 members of the crew of flight PK-788 which was to fly from London Heathrow on Sunday were detained after UKBA officials found cabin crew members in possession of cash in excess of permitted legal carry allowance.
After detention and questioning all 7 members of the crew were allowed to leave and will return home on the next available flight. Meanwhile, PIA officials maintain that while crew members were questioned, nothing out of the ordinary was found in their baggage and they were all allowed to leave after questioning.
