Imran challenges opposition parties to prepare for re-elections

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said the Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) massively rigged local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“I ask JUI and ANP that if they are sincere, prepare for re-elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Khan told newsmen in Islamabad, adding: “ANP, PPP, JUI-F are all hand-in-hand. The PTI chief said JUI, ANP, PPP alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections, but never demanded the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government to resign then why were they asking the PTI to step down.
“PML-N wasn’t ready to open four constituencies. I challenge all three parties if they are sincere, prepare for re-polls,” he said. To a question, he said the Punjab Police had become a mercenary force for the government. Imran Khan said the PTI has called for an All Parties Conference (APC) in relation to election rigging tomorrow.
He asked the tripartite opposition alliance, comprising Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiate Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), to participate in the APC to prepare for re-elections. He said the provincial government was ready to hold re-elections under army supervision. He claimed that if re-elections were held PTI would get more votes this time.
