‘Pakistan attaches great importance to ties with Italy’
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Monday said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to its relations with Italy and desires to further strengthen it through people-to-people and parliamentary contacts.
The NA speaker expressed these views during a meeting with Ambassador of Italy in Parliament House, today. Wide range of issues including enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between Pakistan and Italy came under discussion. The speaker said that parliamentary interaction would bring both the nations more closely besides providing opportunities for sharing experiences and parliamentary best practices. He also expressed his satisfaction on the pace of political and economic engagement between both the countries and appreciated Italian assistance for socio-economic uplift in Pakistan.
The speaker suggested for facilitating interaction between Pakistani and Italian business communities for taking benefit of untapped economic potential in Pakistan besides contributing in economic development going to take place after the Pak-China economic corridor project takeoff. He said that enhanced joint economic cooperation will help Pakistan to address its energy constraints and poverty alleviation.
Italian Ambassador Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani said that his country also attaches great importance to its longstanding relations with Pakistan and assured the Speaker of his government’s unwavering support for sustainable development in the country.
