NewsImprudent Indian statements have endangered peace: PM Nawaz
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that irresponsible statements issued by Indian leadership have endangered peace in the region and dismayed the entire Pakistani nation.
Addressing the ambassadors’ conference here, he said the entire nation was dismayed by recent “irresponsible and I must say imprudent statements by Indian political leadership”.
“And it has takes us further away from our goal of achieving peace and stability [in the region],” he added.
The premier went on to say that that aspiration of peace cannot be a one-sided affair and the recent threatening statements have endangered the regional peace.
Lauding role being played by the security forces of the country in eradicating terrorism, the prime minister said, “We are succeeding in eradicating ethnic, communal and sectarian terrorism through operations”.
The National Action Plan (NAP), which enjoys national consensus of all political forces of the country, gives us a framework to counter terrorism effectively, said Nawaz Sharif.
“We’ll spare nobody and will destroy logistical support of terrorists,” he vowed.
The statement comes against the backdrop of Indian Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's statement, who hours after his country had carried out an operation against militants in Myanmar on Wednesday, said India will strike at a place and at a time of their choosing against all countries, including Pakistan, and groups harbouring “terror intent”.
Rathore's provocative statement has drawn serious criticism from both civil and military leadership of Pakistan.
Federal Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan yesterday warned India against mistaking Pakistan for Myanmar while Defence Minister Khawja Asif said that India should not forget that Pakistan was a nuclear power.
Pakistan's military leadership also issued a strict statement the same day, saying the country's territorial integrity and sovereignty will be protected at all costs and nobody will be allowed to cast an evil eye on the motherland.
