No more load shedding in three years, says PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that load shedding would be eliminated from Pakistan in three years.
Speaking in the National Assembly Prime Minister Sharif mentioned that work on different energy projects was ongoing, including two coal based projects in Thar. The prime minister added that two projects of 1,320 MW would be completed in Port Qasim and Hub.
The prime minister reiterated that a strong network of motorways for national progress and linkages to other countries in the region would be established.
Responding to a point of order by an opposition member Nawaz Ali Wassan, Prime Minister Sharif said Islamabad-Lahore Motorway will be extended to Multan and from there to Sukkur. The work on Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway has started and soon you will see heavy machinery over there.
Multan-Sukkur portion of Motorway falls within China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) while Sukkur-Hyderabad portion will be completed by the Government, he added.
The Prime Minister said Rs 30 billion are being allocated in the present budget for the construction of Motorway under CPEC for the Western route while Khunjrab-Mansehra Abbottabad-Havelian-Islamabad section of Motorways is also under consideration.
