ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed on Thursday the top civil servants to increase efficiency of their departments and take Pakistan towards development and prosperity with a good team of talented officers.
Talking to the officers recently promoted to BS-22 at the PM House, the prime minister congratulated them and said it was the time to pay back to the nation, based on their three decades of experience.
He said the promotions were made purely on merit, in line with government’s policy of transparency and good governance, and said a government officer should work in the best interest of the country and nation. He asked the officers to ensure that their political biases and personal feelings should not be reflected in their working. He said the senior officers should present themselves as role models of integrity and efficiency to their subordinates.
PM Sharif said that for the first time in country’s history smaller occupational groups have also been given representation at the top level of civil bureaucracy to improve their service prospects and raise their morale. He sought suggestions from the officers regarding civil service reforms.
He said the reforms were aimed at providing best possible service to the people, giving rewards to better performing officers and punishing those who indulge in corruption, malpractice or slackness.
