DG Rangers, Corps Commander vow to continue crackdown in Karachi
INP
KARACHI - Corps Commander Lt General Naveed Mukhtar on Thursday visited Rangers Headquarters and held a meeting with Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar.
At the Rangers Headquarters, the Corps Commander was briefed over the ongoing targeted operation against criminals and corrupt mafias of the city. Sources said Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar and Major General Bilal Akbar expressed satisfaction over the crackdown and vowed to continue the action.
The visit comes a day after Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah wrote a letter to the DG Rangers expressing his concerns over raids on state-run institutions especially the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCP).
In the letter, the CM said the paramilitary troops have ‘exceeded’ their mandate. A copy of the letter was also sent to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The meeting of the two high-ups also came a day after former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari criticised the military following a salvo of allegations of corruption, land-grabbing, smuggling of Iranian oil and extortion on Sindh government.
