In a message to the nation on the start of the holy month of Ramazan, he said “we knew that forgiveness, love and affection, tolerance and mutual empathy were the core of our religion”. Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) has also directed us to adopt such behaviours to resolve issues, he remarked.

He said according to the Holy Quran, fasting was made compulsory so that believers might adopt piety. “Piety means righteous and cautious way of life. Ramazan provides this cautious way of life. Piety does not only mean the prayers, but it covers all matters of life. It includes peace and security, well-wishing and harmony which provide the basis of Islam,” he said.
He added that in the current circumstances “our dear country was faced with various internal and external challenges”. “Let us pledge that we by keeping ourselves above all the differences will take every action that helps promote Islamic and democratic values and is beneficial for the development and progress of country and nation,” he said.
President Mamnoon said similarly “we should also pledge not to leave any stone unturned to root out the destructive menace of terrorism, violence and intolerance”. He added that Muslims could truly adopt piety by following this approach. He prayed that God blesses us with the spirit of discipline, unity and accord and love and tolerance. He also prayed to God to bestow Muslims with the devotion to benefit from the blessings of Ramazan.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has felicitated the nation on the advent of Ramazan and urged them to pray for the country’s peace and prosperity during the sacred month.
“Our government, with the blessings of God and with the prayers of elderly people, mothers, daughters, sisters and brothers, has made many achievements in terms of economy and defence during the last two years,” he said in a message to the nation.
The prime minister called upon the people to particularly pray during the Sehr, Iftar and Taraveeh so that the country remains safe from any external conspiracies and achieves progress and development. He said the enemy was continuously engaged in new conspiracies and was bent upon destabilising Pakistan. “But we, God willing, will not let the enemy succeed in its nefarious designs, and will foil every plot against our sacred land through determination, courage and will,” he said.
He said Operation Zarb-e-Azb had achieved uncountable successes in fighting out terrorists and added that the country was making rapid progress with each passing day.
