‘Pakistan stands by Saudi Arabia over Yemen crisis’

MADINA MUNAWARA: President Mamnoon Hussain has unequivocally stated that Pakistan stands by Saudi Arabia with regard to the ongoing crisis in Yemen.

In an interview, he said Pakistan wants diplomatic solution to the crisis. He said a large Pakistani diaspora in Saudi Arabia serves as a bridge between the two countries.

The president said deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries are based on strong foundations. He said Pakistani people have great devotion for the Harmain Sharifain. He said he had several meetings with Saudi leaders and leaders of other countries when the crisis in Yemen began. President Mamnoon said the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently had a meeting in Jeddah to affirm its support for the Kingdom. He added that the Muslim world was hoping for a peaceful resolution to the situation. He also praised King Salman for his services to pilgrims visiting the country for hajj and umrah.

To a question, he said the law and order situation in Karachi has improved after the operation. He said the Rangers and Sindh Police would cleanse the city from criminals and extortionists. About the Kashmir issue, he said both Pakistan and India will have to come to the negotiation table for resolving the issue.
