CM Sindh announces closure of government offices due to heatwave

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah announced that government offices and schools would be closed in Sindh on account of the heatwave.

The closure would be applicable for Tuesday as a measure to provide relief to people. Speaking on the floor of the Sindh Assembly Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said offices which offer essential services such as hospitals would remain open.

He added that measures had been taken to tackle the load shedding crisis in the province. “Alternate street lamps will be active and advertisements which use electricity will not be allowed to operate.”

Earlier, the Sindh government announced markets would close at 9:00 PM as a measure to overcome the energy shortfall. Air conditioners in government offices will also be shut off at 11:00 AM .
