Govt keen to increase power generation: PM

ISLAMABAD - A delegation of Chinese Gezhouba Group, led by Chief Financial Officer Lin Xiaodan, called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House here on Tuesday and discussed with him issues related to power generation.

The group, which is engaged in Sukki Kenari hydel power project, also expressed interest in LNG-based and coal-fired power projects. The prime minister said that the government was keen to increase power generation in order to meet the demand and reduce power outages. He said foreign investors were being encouraged to invest in energy sector.

Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif; Secretary to Prime Minister Javed Aslam, Water and Power Secretary Younus Dagha, and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood also attended the meeting.
