Asif seeks Parliament’s guidance for new K-Electric agreement

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Thursday said that the federal government currently has no agreement with K-Electric, however, a new agreement will be brought to Parliament for guidance before being signed.

The minister while expressing grief over the heatwave casualties in Karachi, went on to say that no doubt it is a great tragedy and to overcome the power crisis, the new agreement with K-Electric will be made in the interests of the people of Karachi.

He added that, “if we are not able to provide the people electricity, how can we ask them for votes.”

Khawaja Asif further said that, “we reached here in Parliament by promising the nation electricity, so we will ensure that the commitment is fulfilled.”

The Minister for Water and Power went on to say that regarding the news about lack of space available in Karachi’s graveyards, “if housing societies are being made upon graveyards, then how will the deceased get any space.”
