Neither my resignation nor protests will help in Karachi crisis: Asif

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif on Thursday said that neither his resignation nor protests would help in the prevailing crisis in Karachi.

The minister expressed these views while addressing the participants of National Assembly (NA) session. He said that at least 3,000 people perished in heat wave in June India. He said that at least 70 per cent of the deaths in Karachi are those of labourers.

Asif said that it was Sindh government’s responsibility to look after patients in hospitals. He said that environmental changes were leading to increase in number of deaths. He added that the provincial government also said that graveyards are falling short of space. He further said that protests and speeches by opposition parties would not help in the crisis.
