Qadri arrives in Lahore

LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport here on Monday.

The PAT chief had earlier arrived in Dubai from London on a flight of a foreign airline. He was greeted by PAT leaders and workers upon his arrival in Lahore.

According to Qadri’s spokesman Noorul Ameen, the PAT chief would be taken to his Model Town residence in a convoy upon his reception at the airport. They party has also reportedly refused to accept security protocol of Punjab Police.

On the other hand, the Punjab government has issued a threat alert recommending Qadri to avoid travelling in a public procession. The warning letter recommends using bullet-proof vehicle and vest due to a likely threat to the PAT chief’s life. It also urges not to allow any stranger to come close to Qadri’s vehicle upon stopping at traffic signal or road-blockage.

According to intelligence reports, two suicide attackers have left Waziristan tribal area for Lahore, says the letter. The possible target of the two terrorists, belonging to Al Qaeda, can be an important political, religious or foreign personality, it added.
