Life is back to Karachi after targeted operation: DG ISPR
RAWALPINDI: Director General ISPR Lt General Asim Bajwa has stated that law and order situation has been improved and life is back to Karachi after targeted operation in the city and it will be continue till the complete stability.
DG, ISPR while briefing the media on Wednesday has said 19000 intelligence based operations have been carried out across the country and 1200 terrorists have been eliminated in Karachi alone.
He said that target killings and crime rate have been reduced in Karachi because of the ongoing operation in the city and it will be continue till the logical end.
General Asim Bajwa said that before Zarb e Azb, Talban were trying to dictate the state. This operation was to eradicate the terrorists from the country.
He said that Operation Zarb-e-Azab in North Waziristan had begun as a crackdown on terrorists who were using the area as a hub to spread terror all over the country.
When the operation began Waziristan had become a no-go area which no citizen of Pakistan could enter, he said
He said that during the operation a 3600 kilometer square area was cleared of terrorists. This included Datta Khel, Alora Mandi and Shawal Valley.
During the operation, he said, 992 hideouts of the terrorists and 7500 ammunitions factories have been destroyed.
“We have crushed roots the Lashkar e Islam from Khyber Agency area,” he declared.
The DG ISPR said that the Pakistan Army lost 108 of its personnel in the operation.
He said after the introduction of border management no one can enter in the country without valid documents.
He stressed that before the operation began we informed Afghanistan. “We told the Afghan government that terrorists will run to Afghanistan, you need to catch them.”
He added that the Afghan government did not pay heed to their advise, “otherwise the results would have been positive for them”.
He said that our intelligence agency has foiled Indian funded networks in Balochistan and its first time after the World War II that a serving spy has been caught.
“Indian involvement will be exposed at international forums,” he said.
Answering a question about the CPEC, the DG ISPR said that Pakistan Army will protect this project at any cost.
Our objective is terrorism-free Pakistan, he declared. "Drone strikes are against our sovereignty and we will not allow these kind of strike in future," he said.
