Dr Asim's mother files petition in SHC to stop PEMRA from airing his video
KARACHI: Dr Asim's mother filed a petition at the Sindh High Court to stop Pakistan Electronic Meida Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) from airing her son's recent confessional statements.In her petition, Ejaz Fatima, mother of Dr Asim, stated that she had suspicions from the beginning that Rangers would record a video of her son's confessional statement.
Ejaz Fatima has appealed to the court in the petition to safeguard her and her son's life and basic rights by not allowing channels to air Dr Asim's confessional statements.
Dr Asim Hussain, who used to be a close confidant of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and is a former Adviser on Petroleum Affairs. In his first video, which surfaced on Wednesday, Dr Asim made shocking revelations about former PPP minister Owais Muzaffar and claimed that he was involved in every kind of corruption.
In another video that was revealed after that, Dr Asim revealed the names of some henchmen of former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and also made some revelations about him.
Dr Asim's attorney had stated the previous day that the statement had been forcibly extracted from the suspect with the use of torture and intoxicating drugs.
He also said that during the course of interrogation, statements obtained out of torture or fear had no legal existence.
