Ramday’s appointment as ad-hoc judge challenged

LAHORE: The appointments of Justice (rtd) Khalilur Rehman Ramday as ad-hoc judge at Supreme Court (SC) and that of two retired session judges in Lahore High Court (LHC) as judges, have been challenged in the SC Lahore Registry, Geo News reported Monday.

The petitioner Barrister Zafarullah Khan pleaded that Justice Ramday was functioning as permanent judge at the SC; as such, the summary regarding his appointment as ad-hoc judge could not be moved, adding it can only be issued if the concerned judge is retired.

Zafarullah also challenged the appointments of two retired session judges, saying five session judges from judicial service have been appointed as judge; of them, two retired session judges are also included, while, according to constitution, retired session judge can not be appointed as High Court Judge.

The petitioner pleaded the court nullify the notification of appointments of these judges.
