Govt. to announce constitutional package in March: Kaira


OKARA: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Sunday that the government, led by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), would announce in March a constitutional package in accordance with the modern requirements.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that all the institutions should work within their limits for strengthening the country. Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower Syed Khurshid Shah and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Ali Shah Bukhari were also present on the occasion.

Kaira said that PPP had always rendered great sacrifices for democracy and worked for the rights of the poor segments of the society. He added the party workers had also laid down their lives in the movement for the restoration of judiciary.

The minister said that the coalition governments were in its initial stages and with the passage of time it would be strengthened and all the issues would then be solved .

He said the PPP had always upheld its traditions and worked against the dictatorship and for strengthening of democracy from the era of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. He added that PPP would complete its constitutional tenure as it had always been elected by the people.

“We will implement the Charter of Democracy in letter and spirit,” he added.

The minister said that Islamabad wants dialogue with India on all issues adding that Pakistan was a peaceful country and wanted to resolve all issues through dialogue.

He said that India, while violating Indus Water Treaty, had built dams at rivers and if this issue was not resolved through talks, Islamabad would go to International Court of Justice. He underlined the need for continuing the process of dialogue with India.

Addressing on the occasion, Khurshid Shah said that there was no difference between Punjabi and Sindhi adding that we will make federation strong.
