Preconditions for composite dialogue not acceptable: FO
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is ready to resume composite dialogue with India, but the country will not accept any preconditions for the process, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said on Sunday. In a telephonic interview with a private TV channel, the spokesman said Islamabad could also set a number of preconditions for starting the dialogue, but “it believes in settlement of bilateral issues with India through a positive negotiation process”. “The ball is in India’s court... we are ready for a proper process of composite dialogue,” Basit said, adding that Pakistan shared India’s desire for resuming dialogue. He said that resuming dialogue was not only in both the countries’ interest, but also in the interest of the entire region, adding that Islamabad and Delhi should cooperate to resolve the terrorism issue. app
