Iran reopens Pakistan border for trade after four months

QUETTA: Iran reopened its border with Pakistan for trade more than four months after it had closed the frontier following a bombing in south-eastern Iran that killed 42 people, a Pakistani official said on Monday. A Sunni Muslim terrorist group called Jundullah claimed the suicide bomb attack in Iran’s Sistan-Balochistan province. Iran, which is predominantly Shia, has alleged that the group had links with Pakistani security agents. Pakistan had denied that but Iran nonetheless closed its border with Pakistan for trade. A senior government officer in Baluchistan said Iran decided to reopen the border after Pakistani and Iranian authorities agreed last week to step up border security. reuters
