Rehman Malik acquitted in bitumen case
KARACHI: An accountability court in Karachi acquitted Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a case registered against him in 1995 for misusing his official position to give quota of 50000 metric tonnes of bitumen to his relatives.
Defence lawyer Khwaja Naweed Ahmed told after the hearing that the only witness in the case changed his statement and the judge acquitted Malik on the basis of incomplete evidences.
After the acquittal, Malik said that all cases against him are baseless.
Replying to a question he opined that CNIC recovered from Abdul Malik Rigi was fake. Extra security measures would be adopted for local body elections on provincial governments' request, he added.
