Army starts withdrawing from Bajaur Agency

KHAR: The Pakistan Army on Wednesday started pulling back its personnel from Damadola and its adjacent areas in Mamoond tehsil of Bajaur Agency after gaining complete control of the localities. Sources said the withdrawal was only from Damadola and its adjacent areas, and the army would be positioned in the rest of the agency. They said the authorities had started deploying Bajaur Levies and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel in the tehsil, adding that the local forces were just replacing the army. Sources also said that 240 Levies personnel had been deployed in Damadola and its adjoining areas in the first phase. Meanwhile, six militant commanders laid down their weapons and surrendered to the security forces in Malangi area of Mamoond tehsil. staff report
