Four Pakistani workers shot dead in Afghanistan
KANDAHAR: Gunmen on motorcycles, shot dead four Pakistanis and an Afghan worker in southern Afghanistan, on Thursday, officials said.
The three gunmen opened fire on the group of labourers, killing the five men and wounding another Pakistani and an Afghan, the Afghan Interior Ministry said. The bodies of the four Pakistanis have been transported back to Pakistan.
The ambush took place in the Kobi area of Panjwayi district in Kandahar province, a centre for the Taliban-led insurgency fighting to bring down the Western-backed Afghan government.
“They were going to work when this incident took place,” SAITA executive, Ajmal Farooqi said.
The Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesman said Pakistan has asked Afghan authorities to investigate the incident and improve security for its nationals in the country. afp
