NA Defence Committee meeting held at PIA office
LAHORE: A meeting of the sub-committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence was held at the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) head office on Friday. The meeting examined rescheduling of loans acquired in previous governments and financial support to PIA. It expressed concern on the financial losses of the airline, which have accumulated to Rs 65 billion. The sub-committee decided to extend full support to PIA and recommend the government to pay attention to the financial losses of the airline. The meeting directed the PIA management to submit a 5-year business plan to improve the operational earnings of the airline if the government writes off the previous loans of PIA. It was also decided that the airline’s issues would be raised in parliament. staff report
