Govt has evidences of foreign hands behind terrorism


ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik denounced the Lahore blast in strongest terms, saying there are evidences of foreign hand involvement in the terrorism in Pakistan, Geo News reported Monday.

Talking to media after appearing before the court here, he urged India to prove itself peaceful by talking to Pakistan, adding the government will present the evidences regarding the terrorism.

Malik said "hired killers who want to destabilise Pakistan" and pointed the finger at the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) faction holed up in the northwest of the country along the border with Afghanistan.

"In almost every blast there has been TTP involvement and they themselves have also claimed responsibility for attacks," he added.

"The ammunition and weapons are coming from Afghanistan," he alleged.

He said that interrogations with people arrested in connection with terrorism from different parts of the country, have shown that majority of these people is associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, adding these people have escaped from Swat and FATA and taken refuge in big cities.

Malik said that there were reports about terrorist attacks and relevant institutes were issued directions to remain alert. He said that appropriate action is taken on reports about terrorist activities and disciplinary action is taken against those found guilty of negligence.

The interior minister said that the terrorists are getting help from Afghanistan and the authorities have captured arms smuggled from Afghanistan. He said that the issue was raised on diplomatic level as well.

Government will continue efforts aimed at elimination of the terrorism, he said.
