There were no high-profile terrorists in building
LAHORE: No high-profile terrorist was under interrogation at the Special Intelligence Agency’s “sub-office” in Model Town at the time of a suicide attack on Monday, as the main investigation office had already been shifted to another place, sources told Daily Times. The sources said SIA officials interrogated Aqeel alias Doctor Usman – the reported mastermind of a terrorist attack at the General Headquarters (GHQ) whose interrogation has led to the arrest of five other suspects – at the Model Town sub-office a few weeks ago. The sources said Dr Usman’s investigation was underway when the SIA shifted its investigation office from Model Town, following intelligence reports of a terrorist threat, and the building was being solely used to house officials. However, the sources said a day before the attack, officials shifted two suspects to the Model Town office after interrogating them at the main investigation bureau. Meanwhile, investigators looking into Monday’s attack are using as a lead a case registered on January 28, when workers offloading raw material – delivered by a local company to a paint factory – stumbled across an explosive device. shahnawaz khan
