ATA to function under Law Ministry: draft
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Interior Affairs has sent the draft for legislation of Anti Terrorism Authority (ATA) to the Ministry of Law.The Anti Terrorism Authority will function under the Interior Ministry, sources said.
The legislation of ATA is aimed at evolving the enhanced coordination and better cooperation among intelligence agencies of Pakistan in its war on terrorism, sources said.
According to sources, Interior Ministry turned down the recommendation of ATA draft, which proposed to make PM the head of ATA’s Board of Governors.
Now, the Federal Interior Minister will head the ATA’s Board of Governors, which will comprise federal ministers and chief ministers of provinces, sources claimed.
