Pak delegation meets Queen at Commonwealth seminar
LAHORE: A delegation of Pakistani provincial and federal lawmakers met England’s Queen Elizabeth II at the 59th Commonwealth Association seminar, which kicked off in London last week.
The two week-long seminar got underway on Commonwealth Day with the Queen’s speech. Ten representatives each from more than 57 countries were presented to the Queen. A part of the seminar dealt with a comparison of democracies, where the Commonwealth’s support for dictators was criticised. Pakistani delegates also raised the issue of British foreign policy, alleging that it was operating under heavy influence from the US. MPA Dr Ashraf Chohan was also chosen for a special audience with the Queen. staff report
