Kayani, Shahbaz discuss Taliban issue
RAWALPINDI: A meeting between the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Mohammed Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani concluded here on Monday.Two high-level officials discussed the issue relating to Taliban while CM Punjab said his statement about Taliban given at Jamia Naeemia was presented out-of-context.
The meeting discussed in detail security situation and the terrorist activities in Lahore particularly the recent suicide attacks in Lahore Cantonment area and Model Town.
They also exchanged views on the efforts being made by the army and police for maintenance of peace besides enhancement of the operational capacity of the law enforcing agencies.
Meeting lasted for no less than 2.5 hours at Army House in Islamabad.
Earlier, Shahba was accorded warm welcome by PML-N’s Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Senator Pervez Rasheed on his arrival at Islamabad airport.
