PSO links oil supply to payment

KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) officials said Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) would start receiving oil only if it began to pay its dues, Geo News reported Wednesday.

Talking to Geo News, the PSO spokesman said the loans limit for the KESC could not be overstretched beyond Rs800 million, adding the furnace oil would be given on credit on 30-day basis not for 45 days.

The KSEC cannot be afforded the furnace oil on discounted rates, Geo News was told.

The PSO official said they received a cheque worth Rs60 million from the Company; any decision whatsoever would be made only after the amount is credited to their account.

Meantime, the Company’s spokesperson Ayesha Arabi said the PSO cancelled an order of 5000 tonnes of furnace oil, which has caused the initiation of 8 to 10-hour load shedding across the city.
