SC seeks report on fake arms licences in five days

ISLAMABAD: A three-member Supreme Court bench on Wednesday directed the interior secretary and the Federal Investigation Agency director general to investigate and submit their reports in five days regarding a case of issuance of several fake arms licences. The bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmed and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday was hearing a bail plea of Shehzad Salim, who was booked by the FIA for his alleged involvement in the issuance of fake arms licences. To a court query, the Interior Ministry’s joint secretary said no fake arms licences had been cancelled so far, however, any court order in this regard would be implemented. Earlier, the court had rejected an inquiry report of the FIA on fake arms licences, terming it incomplete and unsatisfactory. It adjourned the hearing until March 25. staff report
