Quetta death toll rises to three


QUETTA: At least three people were killed and several others injured in a blast on Quwari Road of Quetta, Geo News reported Sunday.

The bomb was rigged to a bicycle. Police put security cordon around the blast site and then the relief activities were kick-started.

The relief teams arrived on the spot. The blast was so powerful that it harmed nearby buildings, shops and vehicles.

The Bomb Disposal Squad is scrutinizing the blast site. The BDS officials said the blast was remote-controlled and at least 5 to 6-kg explosives were used in the blast.

According to police sources, a police vehicle was targeted in the blast; the vehicle was completely destroyed in the blast. The blast hit the vehicle of DPO Khuzdar Nazir Kurd.

The blast occurred in a residential area near the residence of Mehmood Khan Achakzai, leader of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.

He was not at home at the time of blast, according to Achakzai’s family members.

The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital, Quetta; of them, five are in critical condition. According to sources, the police personnel are also among the injured.

The deceased include ill-fated vehicle’s driver Ali Hasan, Constable Dedar Ali and a passer-by Nematullah. (Last updated at 1250)
