Shama Khalid takes oath as governor GB
ISLAMABAD: Dr Shama Khalid has taken oath as the first governor of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) here on Tuesday.The oath-taking ceremony was held at the President’s House, attended by president Asif Ali Zardari, prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, chief minister and ministers of Gilgit-Baltistan, federal ministers, members of the parliament and other important personalities.
Chief judge of the appellate court took the oath from Dr Shama Khalid.
Dr Shama Khalid is a leading social worker and has been a worker of the Pakistan People’s Party.
She has become the first governor of Gilgit-Baltistan after its new constitutional position.
Earlier, federal information minister Qamaruz Zaman Kaira was the acting governor of GB.
